Mikaela would tell you that she never wanted to be defined by cancer. She fought from 2020 until 2025.
She was a normal sixteen-year-old. Enjoyed school, hanging out with her friends, teasing her older brother, making sure her eyelashes were done, and being with her parents. Some of those things might sound strange, but that was all her. Mikaela loved all of those things and more.
She was a dancer from a young age, and a high school tennis player. She wanted to be a bigger part of her high school community, but out-of-state treatments didn’t allow her to.
Over the last couple of years, her focus changed. Being part of MIB helped show her how to become an advocate for childhood cancer. One of her final trips was to Washington D.C. to attend Climb The Hill and CureFest. She felt that her story and journey could help others. Her final act was donating her body to science. She was passionate about finding a cure so that no other child and family has to go through this.
